  • What is the order of events during a wedding reception?

Posted by admin on June 1st, 2010 and filed under events | 1 Comment »

I am a soon-to-be-bride and I am looking for the order of events such as first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, cake cutting ect. in what order do they take place as well as helping me out with events I have not listed. This is so I can pick out appropriate songs to go with the events. Thank you!

Last one I went to this was the order, and I thought it was perfect:

    Introductions
    First dance
    Father-daughter dance
    Cake cutting

…then dinner was served and the couple had the rest of the night to party, relax, converse, etc. And the guests could do the same (and leave early if they couldn’t/didn’t want to stay) without being afraid that they’d miss something.

Urbi: a new parallel & event-driven script language for robotics, games and more

    July 7, 2008

    ABSTRACT

Urbi is a middleware for concurrent and distributed programming, based on a new parallel and event-driven script language called ‘urbiScript’. Using a familiar and easy-to-use syntax, the language offers several concurrent abstractions rooted in the language semantics, together with an integrated scheduler and a distributed component architecture called UObject, based on C++ or Java. urbiScript acts as an orchestrator to build interactions/behaviors between distributed UObjects. Successful applications of Urbi are now mostly in robotics, especially in the upcoming Robocup’08 events, but extensions to video games and complex systems programming are envisioned. Graphical tools have recently been added to the Urbi suite to create hierarchical finite state machines and to provide advanced debugging features. J.C. Baillie, the author of Urbi, will give a detailed technical presentation of the key aspects of this new technology, and show demonstrations of the “Urbi Studio” graphical tools with the Aibo robot.

    Speaker: Dr. Jean-Christophe Baillie
Dr. Jean-Christophe Baillie graduated in Computer Science and Physics from the Ecole Polytechnique, Paris. He received the PhD in Artificial Intelligence from University of Paris 6 and Sony Computer Science Lab and then founded the Cognitive Robotics Lab in ENSTA/ParisTech. During 4 years he worked on developmental robotics research with an extension of the Talking Heads experiment initiated by Luc Steels (Sony CSL). During the course of his researches, he designed Urbi as a tool to control complex robotics systems like the Aibo. In 2006, he founded Gostai, to further develop the Urbi technology and he is now directing the company, while keeping an active part in the R activities. He received in 2007 the “Pierre Faurre” award from the Polytechnique Foundation.

What are the 10 most important events that occured during Ralph Nader’s lifetime?

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2010 and filed under events | 1 Comment »

Not personal events, but rather global events such as Wars, the creation of the internet etc. No individual battles. These should be events during the time period of 1934-Now. Please list these events chronologically-and why they are important in the broad scheme of things.

Here. These timelines will help you do your homework.

    Recent Events

Posted by admin on May 27th, 2010 and filed under events | 25 Comments »

Recent events have forced me to do a video describing how one could contact the BBB if needed for a company who was being negligent towards their users.
For example, if you believe a company, for example……
    Youtube has negligently failed to:

    1. Prevent users from votebotting videos, censoring them.
    2. Prevent users from making infinite numbers of accounts, allowing them to abuse, spam, and troll at will. A simple IP ban or 2 nanoseconds worth of effort would mitigate this.
    3. Prevent false flagging.
    4. Correct falsely flagged videos (a simple “this shouldnt be flagged” button would suffice”.
    5. Provide any form of phone support.
    6. Provide any form of accessible web support.
    7. They ban users for non-existent TOS violations.

Stop the automation. We need customer service. My work is being censored because you lack the mental capability to understand that a user based multibillion dollar industry should perhaps have someone answering the phones.

Derren Brown – The Events – How To Control The Nation – Part 1/5

Posted by admin on May 22nd, 2010 and filed under events | 9 Comments »

Derren demonstrates his astonishing powers of persuasion before an invited audience and then invites the nation to join in a very special television event that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Derren takes his baffled volunteers through an amazing series of psychological experiments that reveal the myth, mystery and power of mind control. He reveals the secrets behind subliminal imagery, the science of perception without awareness, how to dominate the minds of strangers using low frequency sounds and control human behaviour by subtly reshaping our environment.

For the finale of the show Derren talks live to viewers at home. Can Derren control the minds of the entire nation?

Theories And Bizarre Events On 9/11

Posted by admin on May 18th, 2010 and filed under events | 25 Comments »

A video i put together showing some conspiracy theories, the collapse of the World Trade Center which some believed to of had explosives in, and the strange faces in the smoke that people have pointed out. This IS NOT a video showing what I believe happened, but to show what OTHER people believe really happened on that day. There’s probably many other theories/conspiracies out there.. such as Bush knowing what was going to happen, and Islamic terrorists not being involved.. AGAIN THOUGH, THIS IS ONLY SHOWING WHAT SOME SAY ACTUALLY HAPPENED AND SOME EVIDENCE SOME USE! Please rate and comment. My TENTH video..

What are 5 historical events which contributed to the development of the humanities?

Posted by admin on May 16th, 2010 and filed under events | 3 Comments »

They can be any event, from any time period, as long as it is related to the emergence of the humanities. Please provide dates for the events and a short description/explanation of the event. Thank you in advance.

    1. The invention of the incandescent light bulb. Until that time, available light sources consisted of candles, oil lanterns, and gas lamps. In 1809, an English chemist, Humphrey Davy used a high power battery to induce current between two charcoal strips. The current flowing through the two charcoal strips produced an intense incandescent light, creating the first arc lamp.

    2. The American Civil War (1861–1865) was a civil war between the United States of America (the "Union") and the Southern slave states of the newly formed Confederate States of America under Jefferson Davis. The Union included all of the free states and the five slaveholding border states and was led by Abraham Lincoln and the Republican Party. Republicans opposed the expansion of slavery into territories owned by the United States, and their victory in the presidential election of 1860 resulted in seven Southern states declaring their secession from the Union even before Lincoln took office. The Union rejected secession, regarding it as rebellion.

    3. The discovery of penicillin by Scottish scientist Sir Alexander Fleming in 1928 and the development of penicillin for use as a medicine.

    4. German engineer Konrad Zuse invented the world’s first functional program-controlled computer, the Z3, in 1941 (the program was stored on a punched tape).

    5. All of the war(s) in the "middle east":

    1948 Arab-Israeli War
    1956 Suez War
    1967 Six Day War
    1970 War of Attrition
    1973 Yom Kippur War
    1982 Lebanon War
    1987-1993 First Intifada
    1982-2000 South Lebanon conflict
    2000-2007 al-Aqsa Intifada
    2006 Lebanon War
…. I’m not into politics, but we are all heavily effected by the U.S. militatry’s involvement in the middle east.

I could have used events like… the first known stone tools made in Kenya 2.4 Ma, or other boring ancient stuff like that but I chose to use more pertainent and relatively recent events.

What 3 events from 1607 to 1820 shaped the formation of what we call the American Old South?

Posted by admin on May 13th, 2010 and filed under events | 1 Comment »

Basically, I have this essay and I am conflicted on what events I want to use. It is only a 500 word essay, and I figured it would be a lot easier; unfortunately, I started thinking about it and realized that is a big span of time. Only events that need to be excluded are the founding of Jamestown and the Missouri Crisis.

    1. Tobacco as a major crop
    2. American Revolution
    3. The cotton gin
