  • What is the benefits of an online art gallery to the artists?

Posted by admin on June 1st, 2010 and filed under gallery | 1 Comment »

Also need to know who is the targeted audience of an art gallery.
The art gallery is opening a web-site so it can broaden its customer base internationally.
This is an assignment so A.S.A.P???

The main benefit is greater publicity. When you have your art in regular galleries due to the distance and time constraing fewer people can see your art and thus your customer base is reduced, the internet helps publicise the event and increase awareness. The target base are usually either art enthusiasts which are quite well known and potentially art students.

    Gallery Piece

I made this video for a friend, Hope, whose favorite things include Batman and this song. I used virtually zero editing (other than positioning the Joker’s clapping to coincide with lyrics). Of Montreal’s ‘Gallery Piece’ set to footage from The Dark Knight’s trailers.

    I wanna be your love
    I wanna make you cry
And sweep you off your feet

    I wanna hurt your pride
    I wanna slap your face
    I wanna paint your nails

I wanna make you you scream
    I wanna braid your hair
    I wanna kiss your friends

    I wanna make you laugh
    I wanna dress the same
    I wanna defend you

    I wanna squeeze your thighs
    I wanna kiss your eyelids
    And corrupt your dreams

    I wanna crash your car
    I wanna scratch your cheeks
    I wanna make you sick

    I wanna sell you out
    Want to expose your flaws
    I wanna steal your things

    I wanna show you off
    I wanna tell you lies
    I wanna write you books

    I wanna turn you on
    I wanna make you
    Two-hundred times a day

    I wanna dry tears
    Every time your sad
I wanna be your what’s happening

I wanna be your only friend

I only go all the way
    This time I’m not pretending

    I can’t take the trash
Your trashy friends are spreading about us
    They’ve got like fifty personalities
Oh girl, that’s so messed up

You see that sculpture on the hill?
That’s where she cleared me out
    Forever

    They’re monitoring my sub-conscious massacres I know
Bringing it closer to the surface so it’s easily pervertable

I want to be a beast
I want to make you proud
    And play with your head

I want to take you out
    Make you feel adored
    And buy you everything

I want to hurt you bad
    Make you paranoid
    And say the sweetest things

I want to help you grow
    And for eternity
I want to be your what’s happening

    What’s happening?

How can one open their own professional gallery?

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2010 and filed under gallery | 3 Comments »

I love painting and I was wondering how one went about displaying their artwork in a professional gallery? Do you have to buy your own place or do you speak with someone who owns a gallery?

Running a gallery is a job, not a hobby – you’re curator, artist, cashier, accountant, salesman and caretaker all at once. You can carry the work of other artists on consignment to help pay the bills, or even start a co-operative with some other artists where you can share the costs and the work. That’s how I began my gallery and eventually my partner & I bought out all the others.. that took a few years, but the pay is better now!

Start out by walking through local galleries first to see if they carry work that is similar to or at least complimentary to your style and price range! Most galleries insist on appointments, so be professional, patient, and persistent.

    Good luck!

    lyrics

    God broke the mold,
When he made this one I know
She’s breathtaking but so much more
She walks in the room, your lungs close
Making you never want to breathe again
Her boyfriend has got so much dough
So much ice his neck and wrist froze
Is he faithful to her? no
But she chose to be with him, shorty

Tell me is the money worth your soul?
Tell me what’s the reason that you hold on
When you know that dude has a whole wall of ‘em just like you?
And girl you’re just way too fine
Gotta be treated as one of a kind
    Girl use your mind
    Don’t be just another dime

    Because

    I can’t take
    Seeing you with him
‘Cause I know exactly what you’ll be,
    In his gallery
    Just not fair
    And it’s tearing me apart
You’re just another priceless work of art
    In his gallery

    She’s so confused
    She knows she deserves more
Someone who will love and adore
But his money’s hard to ignore
She really doesn’t know what to do
Girl it’s just a matter of time
Before he finds another more fine
After he’s done dulling your shine
You’re out the door and he’s through with you

Tell me is the money worth your soul?
Tell me what’s the reason that you hold on,
When you know that dude has a whole wall of ‘em just like you?
And girl you’re just way too fine
Gotta be treated as one of a kind
    Girl use your mind
    Don’t be just another dime

    I can’t take
    Seeing you with him
‘Cause I know exactly what you’ll be
    In his gallery
    Just not fair
    And it’s tearing me apart
You’re just another priceless work of art
    In his gallery

    You’re a masterpiece
    I know that he
    Can’t appreciate your beauty
    Don’t let him cheapen you
He don’t see you like i do
    Beautiful not just for show
Time that someone let you know

    I can’t take
    Seeing you with him
‘Cause I know exactly what you’ll be
    In his gallery
    Just not fair
    And it’s tearing me apart
You’re just another priceless work of art

    I can’t take

What’s the difference in being represented by a gallery or having your work exhibited in a gallery?

Posted by admin on May 23rd, 2010 and filed under gallery | 2 Comments »

I have my work in a couple of Galleries but keep reading of artist’s who are represented by a gallery, do you know what the difference is? Thank you in advance

Being represented by a gallery is like having a contract with them that you agree to let them be the sole gallery that has your work.
In return they agree to find buyers for you and market your work. It’s a good thing if you are happy with the people that own the gallery, it’s location and the fees they charge. It’s also ususally an invitation from the gallery that starts this kind of relationship – it means they like your talent and feel they can make money from it..and for you.

Is it acceptable to submit unsold artwork to a different gallery in the same metro area?

Posted by admin on May 20th, 2010 and filed under gallery | 1 Comment »

Is it improper to submit a piece of work to a gallery that wasn’t sold in another gallery? What if they’re in the same metro area? Should I let the second gallery know it has been exhibited somewhere else first?

This is perfectly acceptable. In fact it is done all the time.

What to wear to an art gallery located in a very expensive, upscale mall?

Posted by admin on May 13th, 2010 and filed under gallery | 4 Comments »

I’m just a poor art student who is interested in going to this show at an art gallery. But this art gallery is in the middle of this super duper upscale mall and I have no idea what I should wear to go to this thing. Any suggestions? I’m a 22 year old female by the way.

I don’t know what you have in your closet or if you are planning on buying something. But I would just say to wear black. Black is always chic and would work for this event.
