When the Museum of Natural History is closed for upgrades and renovations, the museum pieces are moved into federal storage at the famous Washington Museums. The centerpiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world’s largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) flew on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone’s (Jon Bernthal) rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy’s ruby slippers, Fonzie’s jacket from Happy Days, the still from M*A*S*H and Archie Bunker’s lounge chair from All in the Family. With a forwarded resume, Larry (Ben Stiller) becomes another caretaker at the Smithsonian, where Kahmunrah, an evil Pharaoh will come to life with the reestablishing of a tablet as a magical force in the museum bringing the old exhibits (Such as Theodore Roosevelt and Dexter) and new exhibits (like General Custer and Al Capone) back to life, and in conflict with each other. Larry enlists the help of Amelia Earheart, who he develops a romantic interest in, and together they try to put everything back in order.

I am a new university student at the University of Glasgow. As such I live on the West End (close to Hillhead underground stop) and have yet see the rest of the city. I have heard that most everything museum wise is going to be be free this weekend. What would be the best way to get around to the museums and what museums can I not miss? Don’t worry about the one’s on the West End. THANKS!
Many of the museums in Glasgow are free all year.
What is happening this weekend is Doors Open Day. About 150 buildings are open for free on Saturday or Sunday. These range from churches to fire stations. The most interesting of these are places like the BBC, but you need to book in advance for some of the very popular buildings.
Have a look out for the blue signs as you wander around at the weekend, and look at the website:

If you are reading this too late to go and see anything, visit Edinburgh next weekend (26 – 27 September 2009).

I’m interested in learning more at some museums and planetariums but most of their programs are aimed at the primary and middle school levels. I don’t think programs such as "Summer Space Camp", are offered for anyone over the age of 12. The more advanced the grades go, it seems the fewer programs they have to offer. Even interesting stuff for senior high students are hard to find, and it is definitely a stretch to see anything for university and graduate students being advertised at the museum.
How come attractions offer so few interesting programs suitable for older learners?
Educated people who enter a museum are already motivated and trained to learn on their own. Children need help. Older students can do science fair projects, reports, and so on, on their own. They also begin to specialize, so it’s harder to tailor a program with appeal to a larger group. Adults have less free time available due to their responsibilities to raise their own children, and to earn a living. More programs are indeed available to retired adults and senior citizens.
Recently Kim’s been obsessing over museums, her new “hobby.” Here she reads from her latest report, “The Creation of Value: meditations on the logic of museums and other coercive institutions.” Mildly unpleasant Dead Pinky Story also included (free poster available for download at www.PinkyShow.org).

There are a lot of museums in Amsterdam. Except Van Gogh and Madamme Tussoud, I dont have any idea about the rest.
Which museums do you suggest to visit?
Except visiting museum and boat tour do you have any sugessions to do if you have only 3 days?
The three big museums are the Rijksmuseum (17th century oil paintings), the van Gogh Museum (most famous 19th century painter), and the Anne Frank house (hiding place of this Jewish girl in WW2).
A new museum that I love is the Hermitage, a cooperation with a Russian museum in St. Petersburg.
